The Nov. book selection is “To Kill a Mocking Bird” by Harper Lee. December’s selection is: “Dark Places” by Gillian Flynn If you are not interested in reading, but would like to join our group for socialization, please feel free to attend. Chairman’s Message

Dear Members,

Having been a Founding Member of the 55+ Club of Satellite Beach and your President for the past twelve years, has been an honor and rewarding experience for me. Unfortunately, the ride is coming to an end. I take with me many great memories.

The day I graduated from the University of Pennsylvania, my father told me to always “Give Back” to the community, and that is exactly what I’ve been doing my entire life. To grow our membership over the years, I’ve always stressed the importance of adding value to the club with more activities and information relevant to our 600 members. You may or may not know that I am a Commissioner on the Brevard Commission on Aging and recently I’ve been appointed by Governor Scott to the Housing Authority of Brevard County. I am also an Executive Volunteer for United Way of Brevard, representing them at various County events. I am also a founding member of Florida Tech’s Lifelong Scholar Society as well as a member of their Advisory Council. As you can see, my plate of “Giving Back” is more than full, and for this reason, I’ve had to make the tough decision not to run for President of the 55+ Club this year. However, if the new leadership desires, I would be happy to consult and recommend as needed.

I will close my message to our membership by thanking the many past and current Board Members and Activity Chairpersons who formed the Leadership Team which has made our club such a success for twelve years.

I hope I have touched each of you in a positive way.

Warmest Regards,
Marty Hindsley
Chairman
