Brighton Bay Casino & Bingo Day Trip Recap

Thank you to everyone who joined us on our Brighton Bay Casino & Bingo Day trip! We had 29 participants from the 55+ Club, along with 8 additional guests who boarded at a Malabar Road pickup location.
Everyone seemed to have a wonderful time, and several of us were lucky enough to win on both the slot machines and at bingo!
Brighton Bay Casino is a new facility. Although smoking is permitted in the casino, it was barely noticeable, and the bingo hall is completely smoke-free. The food was very good, the facility was exceptionally clean, and the employees were friendly and helpful throughout the day. A special thank you goes to Casey for getting us there and back safely.

55+ Club Enjoys Scenic St. Johns River Adventure

Members of the 55+ Club of Satellite Beach recently enjoyed a memorable paddleboat day trip aboard the Barbara Lee, traveling along the historic St. Johns River from Sanford. The three-hour sightseeing cruise featured beautiful river scenery, a multi-course meal, and live entertainment as the group dined in style.
Adding to the fun was Allan Coffin, who entertained everyone with a lively performance as Elvis. With great food, music, and fellowship, the trip was a wonderful experience enjoyed by all.
As the Barbara Lee traveled along the river, members admired the beauty of Florida’s landscape, including towering cypress trees and glimpses of wildlife along the riverbanks. The adventure continued with a visit to the City of Sanford’s history museum, where the group explored exhibits highlighting the area’s rich past.
One of the museum’s fascinating displays featured a 21-foot Timucua canoe recovered in 1981. The canoe dates to approximately 800 C.E., offering a remarkable connection to Florida’s earliest inhabitants. Other exhibits showcased the lives and legacy of Henry Sanford’s family, for whom the city was named.
Members also discovered an unexpected piece of Sanford history: in 1944, the city was known as the celery center of the United States. Entrepreneur Mr. Paulucci purchased celery that had been discarded because of size or appearance imperfections and used it to help build the success of his Chun King Corporation. Who knew celery played such an important role in Sanford’s history?
The group also learned that the local area was once known for growing exceptionally large peanuts. The day was filled with history, nature, laughter, and new discoveries—a wonderful outing that created lasting memories for everyone who attended
Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Hollywood

The 55+ Club’s May 7, 2026 trip to the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Hollywood was a great success and a fun-filled day for all who attended!
A total of 33 people joined the adventure, and the fun began even before arriving at the casino. Along the way, 15 travelers participated in Bingo games on the bus. Prizes included $10 winners for the first eight games and an exciting $35 prize for the final “Full Card” game.
Once we arrived, a Hard Rock employee greeted our group and assisted everyone by adding the free play and buffet discount to their players cards. She also escorted those without cards to the Players Club and stayed until everyone had been helped. The entire process was extremely organized and made the experience smooth and enjoyable for all.
The comfortable bus ride included two movies for everyone to enjoy, and our driver, Casey, did a wonderful job getting us there and back safely.
Thank you to everyone who attended and helped make this trip such a memorable day!

Morse Museum of American Art, Tiffany Light Museum & Winter Park Scenic Boat Tour

The 55+ Club April trip to Winter Park was enjoyed with a full bus and everyone had a memorable day of sightseeing, dining, and art. The adventure began with a scenic narrated pontoon boat tour through the beautiful Winter Park canals and chain of lakes.
Along the way, members admired the stunning backyards of some of the area’s most impressive homes while the guides shared entertaining stories, local history, and plenty of humor.
After the boat tour, everyone spread out along Park Avenue for lunch and shopping. Trip coordinator Christi, along with four fellow adventurers, sampled the diverse culinary offerings at Tabla Indian Restaurant, while others explored a variety of local restaurants.
In the early afternoon, the group reconvened at the Charles Hosmer Morse Museum of American Art, home to the world’s largest collection of works by Louis Comfort Tiffany. Members enjoyed a docent-guided tour featuring fascinating and little-known facts about the artist and his creations. One of the highlights was viewing Tiffany’s Chapel, an extraordinary stained-glass masterpiece created for the 1893 World’s Fair. Designed to help Tiffany expand into the ecclesiastical art market, the chapel showcased some of his most intricate and breathtaking stained-glass work.

BOK TOWER TRIP

The March 3, 2026 Bok Tower trip went well! – AND there were flowers ! Azaleas everywhere you turned your head. A few yellow iris’s, a few magnolia blooms, lots of camellias.
All fears about the recent Florida freeze and there not being any flowers were laid to rest. Everybody enjoyed the 1930”s El Retiro house tour and the live carillon concert. Food was good and good reviews on the movie.
