Adult Programs & Things To Do

Communities for a Lifetime offers various programs with seniors in mind, sponsored by the City of Satellite Beach & Brevard Commission on Aging. Thursday, May 21, 12:30pm – “Caregivers Encouraging Fitness” Learn some of the techniques and services available to make caregiving easier for you and your family. A light lunch will be served, pre-register by calling 321/773-6458.

Beach-lovers (and trash haters) volunteers can participate in the Keep Brevard Beautiful monthly beach cleanup at Pelican Beach Park. Beginning at 8am on the 2nd Sat. KBB supplies grabbers, buckets, trash bags and gloves. Bring drinking water. No need to RSVP, just show up! For questions, call Kathy at 474-6156.

Sea Turtle Walks by The Sea Turtle Preservation Society offers guided Sea Turtle walks in Satellite Beach beginning in June and ending in July. Reservations are mandatory and are accepted after May 1st. Call 676-1701 for reservations. Also ask about their Training Program to Aid Sea Turtles.

Restore Oyster Reefs in the Indian River Lagoon oyster mat-making workshops will be held at the David R. Schechter Community Center & overseen by the Brevard Zoo. Please join us on any of these dates May 23, June 27, July 25, and Aug 22 from 10-11:30am to work with Zoo staff to learn more about helping our Indian River Lagoon. No need to RSVP, all ages welcome.

Samsons Island Nature Park located within the SB City boundaries and is a 52-acre island in the Banana River. Daytime activities on the island include bird watching, nature observation and fishing. There is free boat transportation and a park tour available each Sunday leaving from the Satellite Beach Fire Department dock at 1:00pm and returning to the Fire Department about 3:30pm. Sunday tour is first come, first served.

Walking

Thank you to Claudia Roberts & Sadie Belliveau for stepping up to oversee the walking group! Walking times are still 8:00am to 10:00am Mon., Tues. & Thurs. until June when the time changes to 7:30-8:30am through the summer months.

Travel

On March 28th the travel group went to Medieval Times in Kissimmee. Our gang enjoyed a movie on the bus going and coming, along with a grand dinner and show. As usual, Casey, our bus driver, got us back safe and sound. Keep posted for future trips.
