THE COMMUNITY MEDIC PROGRAM: A HIDDEN GEM

Satellite Beach Community Medic Program

Community Medic Program: A Satellite Beach hidden gem. Satellite Beach is known for its beautiful beaches, multiple activities, and a city that puts residents first. What you might not know is there is a Community Medic Program through the Satellite Beach Fire Department. This program focuses on global wellbeing to help you live independently in your home longer.

CMP focuses on bridging the gap between regular doctor visits and everyday living. Through the CMP we build a relationship with you and can share information gathered over time with your doctor, so they have more than just a single-day snapshot of what is happening.

You may enroll in the Chronic Care Management Program, supported by Medicare. Program eligibility requires two chronic illnesses (Hypertension/Hypotension, Congestive Heart Failure, COPD, Diabetes, etc.) It includes monthly Community Medic team visits as well as in-home Nurse Practitioner (ARNP) visits as needed. THE ARNP can order in-home lab tests even in-home x-rays, and call-in prescriptions that can be delivered to your home. At no out of pocket cost to you.

Remote Monitoring Program (RPM) is another Medicare supported tool that CMP uses to manage our patients’ health. Enrollment requires one chronic condition. You connect to the monitoring system via Bluetooth on a smart phone. Data is compiled and reviewed to help manage your condition and monitor trends.

The Community Medic program in Satellite Beach has been modeled locally and even statewide. Satellite Beach residents can reach out to let us help manage your chronic conditions and reduce EMS calls and prevent hospital stays by noting changes that could be managed so that you live a healthy life and continue to be independent in your Satellite Beach home.

DAY TRAVEL

Until our club resumes its day travel choices, you have an option to join Casey, at Casino Connections. Three times a month he takes groups to various casinos in south Florida. One is Caesar’s (formerly Isle of Capri). Forty dollars pays for your travel and $15 in free play. Gulf Stream Casino gives you $20 in free play and a $5 lunch voucher. Casey has a brand-new bus with a state-of-the-art filtration system, bathroom and four tv’s! Call him at 321/432-1511.

MESSAGE FROM OUTGOING PRESIDENT JOYCE SCAFIDI

Hello Everyone,

Happy Holidays and Happy New Year to you all. This is the last message to you all as President of the 55+Club. I Have been on the board serving in several positions over the years. It has been very rewarding, and it has had its challenges. Covid of course, has put a lot of people and including myself wanting to remain at home safe and sound. However, we must start living again and start to engage in activities that we love. All our activities have begun except day travel and hopefully a trip to Biloxi will take place in March.
I will still be involved with the club as chairperson for Book Club, Widows Group and Day Travel.

Again, regards and Love to All,
Joyce
