Cribbage

The group that started out with just a couple of players has grown by leaps and bounds. Here’s a fun fact about one of the players shown in this picture. John lives in Canada. When in Florida, he lives on a house boat! Cribbage is a card came that involves playing
and grouping cards in combinations which gain points. A rectangular wooden cribbage board — equipped with holes that  accommodate pegs — is used for scoring. The group meets Wed. evenings at 6pm and Thurs mornings at 9:30am.

TRAVEL

DAY TRAVEL RECAP
A group of 30 went on a day trip to St. Augustine. We enjoyed a tour of the SanSebastian Winery, a movie, wine tasting and we also purchased wines. Lunch at the Columbia or restaurant of choice. We then shopped, sampled fudge and took a sightseeing trolley. It was a great day. As always, bus driver Casey took great care of the group and the travelers enjoyed playing bingo and movies to
and from. In the last 6 months the day group has enjoyed trips to Medieval Times, Strawberry Fest, Hard Rock Casino, Isle of Capri and Coconut Creek. Stay tuned for our next day trip in the fall. NOTE: Definite plans can’t always be made far ahead of time for these day trips as Casino Connections are always searching for the best and affordable deal for our members. WASHINGTON D.C. REVIEW
The weather was great. Wellcare gave us a rain poncho but the only time we needed it was on the bus. A faulty air valve caused a little excitement and a few inside showers! So much to see! The World War 11 Memorial just opened in 2004 so that was new to most The black granite walls of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial and the larger-than-life statues of the Veterans of the Korean War were amazing, there’s no way to describe this breath-taking tribute. The Lincoln & Jefferson Memorials, Washington Monument, White House, Capitol Building, Arlington Cemetery….so much to see! Our guide, Mary, was fantastic, a true history buff, she knew everything including little bits of trivia to lighten the mood. Going home we stopped at the Lewis Ginter Botanical Gardens in Virginia, a peaceful change of pace. A wonderful trip, we’ll certainly do this again!

FISHING

The Fishing group is getting along quite well with anywhere from 9 to 15 in attendance. In the past few months they’ve enjoyed fishing at the docks behind Grill’s on the Indian River; Bonstell Park Beach and not long ago on the party boat Ocean Obsession
at an offshore reef. To keep updated and to get on Gene’s email list contact him at 321/773-4647 or [email protected] As Gene likes to say “Fish On”!

SPECIAL EVENTS

The Fall Picnic, Holiday Luncheon, Valentine Party & Fashion Show have all been very successful events. Joanne Everett, Special Event Coordinator, is busy planning for this year’s social gatherings. Keep your eyes open for a Fall Fling, a repeat of the holiday
parties, a possible Fashion Show, Spring Tea and Ice Cream Social and maybe something else!
