55+ Get A-Way!
A group of 55+ members and friends set out to enjoy 3 days and 2 nights in Jacksonville and surrounding Amelia Island and St. Augustine.
We lucked out with the weather as rain was all around us but we managed to avoid it and only allowed it to pour when we were safely inside the bus. Our friends at Wellcare had given everyone a “goodie bag” to sort through while we were traveling and that included a rain poncho which we did have to use to stay dry in the St Augustine drizzle on the last day.
The group enjoyed an informative narrated cruise on the St. John’s River and a trip to the Kingsley Plantation. The “road” leading the plantation had been closed as they were working on it clearing the overhead brush and smoothing out the pot holes on the dirt path that took us to the grounds. It opened that morning but as word had not yet spread we were the only people there so we could enjoy the peaceful tranquility of the setting to its fullest.
The Fountain of Youth was very interesting. I’m not sure any one of us actually left there looking younger but it was fun trying!
Our bus driver was great; he kept us entertained the entire time with useless trivia and twenty questions. He was from England and as you know I am from London, England so we joked that our passengers were safely in the hands of the British Invasion! Stay tuned for information on our next trip, we’d love to have you join us!

The 55+ Club’s Got Talent!
Do you love to sing or dance, recite poetry, tell jokes, play an instrument? Are you a closet performer? If you have secretly yearned to be in show biz, well, now’s your chance! This year at our Christmas Holiday Party and Annual Meeting December 11th 2014, we are asking you as members to be the entertainment! Step forward into the spotlight, let down your hair and your inhibitions and expose the talent you have kept hidden from us all these years. Auditions are a MUST! Call Louise Tavani 773-3160 or Louise Daly 773-6946 to set an appointment before November 17th. Only a few acts will be selected so start rehearsing now!
