SPONSOR SPOTLIGHT ZON BEACHSIDE ASSISTED LIVING
Zon has been a 55+ sponsor before their facility was open! They have generously sponsored our St. Patrick’s Day celebrations and their advertisement contribution helps defray the cost of our newsletter.
Construction will begin soon on their new addition. This will include 25 new assisted living and 6 memory care apartments, chapel, theater, large multipurpose room, an oasis, senior resource center and a therapy gym.
Guest speakers visit each month. The volunteer therapy dog teams are by far their favorite. They make personal visits to each room! Outings include, weekly shopping and
scenic bus rides to many fun & educational places. The parks and beaches are the favorites.
Monthly holiday meals are held and they invite everyone to Family Nights and decorate the dining room. If there is no holiday that month, they create a cultural theme that is carried through with other activities. Each month they have a big birthday celebration for those with birthdays, with entertainment and cake for all.
Besides basic programming, each Sunday live music or shows are offered in the main dining room and each Thursday in Memory Care. Weekly exercise, dance and tai chi, Prize and Dime BINGO, 2 church services plus a prayer circle are offered.
Zon has had been chosen as the Outreach destination of several local groups, such as Indian Harbour Beach Garden Club, who bring in guest speakers. Kindercare joined with
Zon in an Inter-generational program. Satellite Beach Football Team visits to “hang out” with residents, playing games and enjoy snacks together. Zon has strong affiliations with
local churches and are looking to expand this network once their Chapel is built!
Laverne Johnson who was an original member of the 55+ Club is now a resident of Zon. She tells us ““Zon is a wonderful place to be and I couldn’t have picked a better place to live”. Those who remember Laverne would know she speaks her truth!
Their passive health monitoring system will be integrated into the new addition. These are: infrared camera and motion sensors that monitor walking; a mattress pad that monitors pulse, respiration and sleep patterns.
Zon’s future is very bright. Schedule a tour to see if they are the right new home for you or your loved one.
Zon Beachside Assisted Living Residents 2018
NON PERISHABLE FOOD COLLECTION FOR SATELLITE CARES
Satellite Cares has been involved with fund raising and donations to provide holiday assistance to some of the less fortunate residents of the city of Satellite Beach. Paramedic, Melanie Drake tells us, “We have been doing this for more than a decade. We try to provide holiday meals and toys for families who might not otherwise have anything to mark the holidays. We are only able to accomplish this by receiving donations from various organizations and support from the community. We hope to be able to assist many families in 2018. Monetary donations or gift cards are also gratefully accepted! A food collection box will be located at the DRS Center beginning Nov. 1st.
NEW MEMBER RECEPTION
Was held Friday Sept. 14th and was a great success! Thirty new members attended, new friends were made and old acquaintances renewed. They enjoyed delicious hors d’oeuvre, desserts and wine. The 55+ Club’s motto is, “To sponsor and coordinate programs that provide social, entertainment and educational opportunities that will enhance the quality of life for our 55+community”.
With that in mind, Candy Allard, Line Dance Instructor, said it best, “If you can’t find something to do in this area, then you are NOT paying attention”. There’s plenty to keep
you busy! Besides the 55+ Club activities there are several other organizations you can get involved with and the Recreation Dept. offers great programs for all ages. No excuse for being bored!
