DOES YOUR DRIVER’S LICENSE HAVE A GOLD STAR?

In the upper right-hand corner of your driver’s license or ID card, you should see a gold star. We encourage you to take a moment to check. It’s the sign that your credential is REAL ID compliant.

Why does this matter? After Oct. 1, 2020, if you do not have this gold star, you will need more than just a driver’s license to prove your identity to board a commercial airline.
The REAL ID Act is a U.S. Department of Homeland Security effort to apply consistent security measures and standards across all state-issued credentials. To become REAL ID
compliant, visit a DMV offi ce and bring original documents that validate your identity. Social Security Number and residential address. Go to www.FLHSMV.gov/whattobring to learn which documents you need to bring or call customer service at 850-617-2000.

Starting with the March/April issue of the club newsletter, members who have an email will receive their newsletter in email format and not postal mail. The board unanimously voted to go forward with this format due to postage increases, issues with address changes and forwarding. If you do not have an email, your newsletter will continue to be postal mailed to you. In addition, future flyers and announcements will be sent via this process. The newsletter will be sent through MailChimp’s secure server and will contain links to our website for more information. In the beginning please check your SPAM folder and add [email protected] to your “Safe Sender” list to ensure continued  delivery of our newsletter. There will be a sign-up form on our web page for new members. If you no longer wish to receive the emailed newsletter, there will be an “Unsubscribe” link at the bottom of every email. Please Unsubscribe rather than mark us as Spam to insure the integrity of our list.

PAUL CRIBB

It’s not customary to mention members who have passed away in our newsletter, but we felt it is important to honor Paul Cribb who was one of our founding members and instrumental with spear heading card games and bingo. We probably wouldn’t have bingo today if it wasn’t for Paul. Paul and his wife Hildy previously lived in the Satellite Beach area for 50 years. He passed away peacefully at the age of 91 at the Pavilion at Bayview Assisted Living Facility in St. Augustine. Paul and Hildy had moved to that area to be closer to their daughter Cookie. While serving in the armed forces in Germany he met and married his wife of 72 years, Hildy. Together they had four children and numerous grandchildren. Paul was a well-respected business man at Charlie’s Pizza, Hess Service Station and Cribb’s Coral. During his retirement years he valued community involvement and it’s when he connected with the 55+ Club. In addition to heading up Thursday Cards & Games and Monday Bingo, Paul and Hildy played Santa and Mrs. Claus for many, many years at the clubs annual holiday luncheons. Their daughter Cookie writes, “Please let everyone know my dad has missed them and enjoyed the many happy memories of the activities, fun, and friends he had at the 55+ Club”. Rest in Peace dear friend!
