TRAVEL- LET’S GO COUNTRY!

A group of 55+ Club members & friends traveled to Nashville’s Country Music World! Our group was a unique representation from Germany, Japan, Korea, England, Norway, Italy and yes, there were some Americans on board although probably only one native Floridian! Our bus driver was from Puerto Rico, a delightful gentleman who started the adventure as a shy, unassuming fellow but gradually came out of his shell which was necessary for him to hold his own with our bunch of 55+ers. Our guided tour of Nashville introduced us to “Honky Tonk Row”, Opryland Hotel and the Delta Flatboats: for a short time we were in another world.

No trip to Nashville is complete without a visit to the Grand Ole Opry, an experience in itself then a tour of backstage at the Opry House. We could just visualize the big stars relaxing in their dressing rooms before going on stage. Enjoyed great entertainment, country style of course, plentiful buffets and toe tapping music. A tour of Belle Meade Plantation a Thoroughbred breeding establishment, very appropriate timing with the Kentucky Derby approaching. The people of Nashville are friendly, happy, & fun loving; they opened their hearts to us and made us feel welcome.

Returning we stopped at the Cummer Museum in Jacksonville, an interesting place with beautiful gardens. If you are ever up that way, stop in, you will enjoy it, great gift shop too! We wrapped up another wonderful trip, we made new friends and enjoyed old ones. As we go back to our regular lives we all have some special memories and stories to share. Come with us next time, we’d love to have you.
