Michael J. Sands Jr. is originally from Wilmington, North Carolina. He enjoys staying active and connected in the
community wherever he is. His passions include volunteering, supporting local projects, and finding practical ways
to make a positive impact on the people and places around him. He values service, teamwork, and creating environments where people feel safe, supported, and included. Whether through organized efforts or simply helping where help is needed, being involved, contributing, and building strong community connections are a big part of what motivates him.
“Some of my earliest memories involve fishing on the Outer Banks of North Carolina, where my father introduced us to
pier and shore fishing at a young age, a tradition I continued on the lakes of New Hampshire and later in Wilmington,
N.C. When I received the call from Holmes Hospital about my Uncle Greg Wells, former chair of the fishing club, I relocated to Satellite Beach to support him during his recovery. Through that time, I came to understand how deeply
the fishing club and the 55+ community meant to him and how central those connections were to his life. In that spirit,
and recognizing how vital communities are for all people, I chose to step forward and volunteer as chair to help continue to provide a welcoming space for fellowship and shared experience.” Michael Sands, 910-232-7543 or mich.sandsjr@gmail.com
