Nearly 10 years after the vision first took shape, the Amphitheater at Brevard Veterans Memorial Park opened its gates in April with a ceremony attended by local dignitaries, elected official and community leaders. The venue features seating space for 2,000 people, with lawn and standing room space that can accommodate up to 5,000 guests for concerts, ceremonies and commu-nity celebrations. Watch for a wide variety of live events throughout the year; from concerts and civic programs to cultural performances and school functions. Beyond the performance space, the park features a two-and-a-half kilome-ter walking, jogging and biking trail open to the public free of charge. The parks main entrance is at 555 Fortenberry Road on Merritt Island.
